(Continued...)
We killed her.
No you killed her.
But this is what you want. Isn't it?
No, you were supposed to be safe from all this carnage. That's why you were created. I was supposed to be the killer.
No! You were created.
Really? Just because you have been in control longer doesn't mean you are the original Todd. That girl I loved, with our heart. She was going to leave us forever. I had to do something.
She did leave us forever. You killed Sarah.
I did, to protect us. You believed that she left but still loved you. You thought she was still alive.
Lies! All Lies! You wrote all those letters.
Yes I did, to protect you. Do you remember what happened to your parents?
They are in a home somewhere out of town.
You are so gullible. You father is in prison and your mom is dead.
No.
Poor Todd. Your father killed her. We saw the whole thing. They were fighting and she said, "I'm leaving." Do you remember now?
Yes. I remember looking into her eyes before he shot her. I remember everything...
There we go Todd. What color were her eyes?
They were green.
What color were Sarah's eyes?
They were green.
Right. That was the only thing that kept pulling my hunger to you. But now, you've gone mad with it. You killed the old lady because you are now delusional. She doesn't have green eyes, you idiot. Neither did Vanessa. But when she saw you writing in your stupid Diary. She thought she could warn you about the murder she saw. She thought you would protect her. She cared for you. But all you saw were green eyes.
Vanessa.
I can't let you live anymore. I'm going to have to kill you.
You mean us?
No, I mean you. I no longer feel the hunger. You have all of it. I'm free.
How, do you plan on doing that?
Easy. Watch.
February 17th 1990
I don't know where to start. My counselor told me I needed to have closure. I hope he's right. It has been a year and half since the murders. His name was Todd Casil and I really thought I was falling in love with him. I felt like he could have been the one.
Anyways, that day I got home. I was supposed to be on a trip for school, but it got cancelled. I decided to take advantage of it so I stayed with a friend. She convinced me not to call Todd. I did anyways but I hung up and decided to go out and have some fun. I felt a bit guilty and I decided to come home early and see Todd.
The power seemed to be out in the building when I got there. On the floor I saw a small orange light. It was a cigarette burning on the floor. I picked it up and that's when I saw something move under the doorway. I was about to knock but as I leaned against the door it pushed open. A silhouette of a man stared back at me. At his feet was the old lady, Telez.
I ran to my apartment door. I was scared to death. As I got my keys out, I saw his shadow enter the hallway. I opened the door and locked it behind me. I ran inside and called 9-1-1. Then I realized, Todd. Poor Todd. I dropped the phone and ran over to my door. I peered through the peephole and saw that there was a lot of moonlight pouring through the bottom of Todd's doorway.
I was terrified. I couldn't leave him there alone. I couldn't stand let another boyfriend go. I didn't want to be alone anymore. The hallway seemed empty and the killer must have fled already. I opened the door and I flung myself across the hallway. To my surprise, Todd's door opened.
The curtains were all torn down. The moonlight coated Todd's floor with an eerie white light. The windows and walls were covered in words. His desk was in the middle of the apartment and that is where he sat, writing in his Diary.
I said to him, "Todd. Someone killed Telez. The old lady across the hall."
He looked up and it sounded like he said, "Green."
He walked up to me and I was out cold for a couple hours. I awoke in some kind of forest. My head hurt and I was wet from the morning dew. Across from me, on the floor was a book. It was Todd Casil's Diary. I don't know what happened to him but knowing he's still out there, scares me.
"He looked up and it sounded like he said, "Green." Sweet.
I like the tie-ups you finish with in this section and I like seeing the conversation between egos. However, as there is an entry from Vanessa I don't believe in the title.
That said, I still like Vanessa's entry. I like her description of Todd's situation and room and the mood. Interesting that he left her in a forest with the diary.
I especially love how Todd, the 'mad' one, transferred the madness to the speaker. Love it!
